The Golden Passage

Gold war und ist eines der wichtigsten Güter, die Südafrika ausführt. Seit den undenklichen Zeiten war Gold der wichtigste Wert in allen Kulturen. Es diente nicht nur als Schmuck oder Zahlungsmittel, sondern spielte auch in allen religiösen Riten ein wichtige Rolle. In diesem Falle benutze ich Gold, um den Wert des Wassers zu bestimmen. Ich setze den Wert des Wassers als wichtigstes Element über den Wert des Goldes. Hier an diesem Fluß Erste bei Kapstadt habe ich die riesigen Felsen vergoldet, durch den das Flüßchen durchfließen muß.

The place with the little river floating through a stone passage seems very quiet and peaceful. Therefore I want to create a place of intensive meditation where the sounds of the river would be heard only. The golden colour underlines the abstract forms of the stones and attracts the visitor of the river. The stones will be mirrored in the water too.
Gold was and is one of the most important exported goods that South Africa has. As gold was since ancient times a value in all cultures and not only used as jewellery and money but was evaluated in religion and rites, I want to use it in this case too to show the value of water. The water is floating through a golden passage. The water is the value and richness of our future.
Water bears life.
